vehicle description:

2007 Maserati QUATTROPORTESport GT Automatic. Fully automatic 6 speed ZF gearbox with manual paddle shift option. Metallic black with cream leather and gloss black dashboard and door trims.
79000 miles, MOT to 30th July 2018, (no advisories). Full history. HPI clear. Two previous owners to myself in the V5. Excellent condition for its year and mileage. All handbooks are present plus nav disc and spare key.
Much recent work has been done over the last few months to address common QUATTROPORTE issues.
At 76000 miles in February it had cam variator and solenoid replacement including the pressure relieve valve modification which prevents re-occurrence. The invoice is present and totals £2700. If you are buying one of these, do your homework on the cam variator issue. It’s the fully automatic cars that are prone to the variator problem. Not many fully automatic QUATTROPORTEs are in this price range. They are usually the duo-select gearbox at this price. I’ve had two duo-selectQUATTROPORTEs before, I loved the cars and put up with the slightly clunky gearchange, I never drove them in auto mode. Issues with the duo select are not only the way it drives but potential reliability, clutch wear and maintenance cost. The full auto box is reliable, low maintenance and transforms the way the car drives. However, the advantage of a duo-select car is that cam variator issues are very rare. When Masearti developed the full auto cars they changed the oil system from dry sump to wet sump. It’s the wet sump cars that can be prone to cam variator rattle and potential failure. This one is sorted.
It’s common for these cars to feel like the rear wheels are following ruts and lines in the road, even though geometry is correct and rear bushes and joints appear in good condition. On this car I have fitted polyurethane inserts to laterally locate the rear lower wishbones. (The wishbones and subframe have not been modified to accommodate the inserts). New front wishbone bushes and shock absorber top mounts have been fitted. New anti roll bar mounts are fitted front and rear. (A previous owner had replaced the anti roll bar links, they are still as new). A full geometry set up has been done. The car rides and handles superb.
I discovered this car had missed the Maserati safety recall on the rear suspension tie rods. (Be careful to check if you are buying one of these that this has been done). It has just been into the JCT600 Maserati dealership for rear tie rod replacement. The work at JCT involved disturbing the rear alignment so a full geometry check and set up has been done again by them.
It’s common for the driver’s window mechanism to suddenly fail on these and the window drops and jams. (It can smash the glass!) Prevention is better than cure so I have removed the mechanism and fitted a strengthening bracket to the common failure point.
A new battery was fitted in April. The existing one was performing OK but I wasn’t sure how old it was. It is imperative these cars have a healthy battery!
The front and rear sub frames have been cleaned and waxoyl treated. They are not rusty on this car but it can occur if not treated.
The previous owner fitted new brake pads and they have lots of life left. I fitted two new rear tyres, they have done about 1000 miles. The front tyres still have something like 6mm on them and are worn evenly.
There are seven services in the service book, at 13k, 26k, 41k, 50k, 66k, 72k and 77k. A mixture of main dealer and independent. The major service at 72k miles included spark plugs. The most recent at 77k in March included new air filter.
The exhaust intermediate silencer and mixer has been replaced with a stainless steel link pipe with balance. I had it made up at an engineering shop, basically copying a Tubi. The exhaust note is fantastic, yet as these cars are so well sound insulated it is not obtrusive in the car. If not to your taste the standard centre piece can be refitted in about an hour.
Minor issues with the car are: Radio reception can be erratic on long journeys. A signal booster can be fitted, it’s not bothered me. The satnav works when it feels like it. May improve with another disc, I haven’t tried. Some guys on the forums have fitted an interface to get an iphone to operate the Nav and music/radio using the existing screen and retaining the other function such as trip computer etc. Other than reading a few forum posts I’ve not looked into it any further. The tyre pressure monitoring system is not working. It needs some senders in the wheels. Apparently some aftermarket senders will function with the system. Just a job that wasn’t high on my priority list so I have haven’t bothered as it’s only a small symbol in the bottom corner of the screen.
In summary a well sortedQUATTROPORTE with few minor issues. It looks, drives and sounds fantastic. A small fortune recently spent. Very minor marks and wear to the interior, less than you would expect for the age and miles, similarly very few minor marks to paintwork, none which require any attention and will not show in the photos.

The reason for sale is the lust for a Gran Turismo.
